    Gold Pineapples

    $80.00

Gold Pineapples have superior taste compared to other common pineapple varieties. The exceptional flavor of the Gold Pineapple is due to its perfect balance of low acidity and sugar content ratio. The result? Excellent flavor in every bite. No wonder this spiky tropical fruit is considered the world’s best tasting pineapple.

When selecting a Gold Pineapple at the grocery store, choose one that has vibrant green leaves and a firm shell that yields slightly when squeezed. Let your nose lead the way; a distinctive pineapple aroma should be present. If you want the best of the bunch, go with the pineapple that feels the heaviest; this typically indicates water content and that a juicy flesh awaits.

How to cut a Gold Pineapple: Cut off the crown and base. Cut off the sides and trim the eyes. Cut into quarters. Slide down the triangular tip to remove the core. Slice in half lengthwise. Cut into chunks.

  • Gold Pineapples with Corer

    Gold Pineapples with Corer

    $80.00

At last, the ultimate pineapple gift! Sun-ripened on the plantation, these Honeyglow Pineapples are naturally sweet and juicy. Unlike most pineapples, which are picked green, these premium golden-yellow pineapples are very high in sugar, low in acid and arrive ready to eat.

Pineapples are unique in that they contain the enzyme bromelain, which is a natural digestive agent that breaks down proteins. For this reason, fresh pineapple is excellent for serving as a palate cleanser and digestive aid after a heavy meal. Use fresh pineapple in meat or seafood marinades to add a flavorful accent and to help tenderize the proteins.

  • Goldenberries (Cape Gooseberries)

    Goldenberries (Cape Gooseberries)

    $20.00

Goldenberries are small, juicy, sweet-tart fruits with delightfully tangy tropical notes often described as a mix between mango and pineapple. This attractive fruit is related to tomatoes and tomatillos—it resembles tomatillos in that it has tiny edible seeds and a papery husk that’s peeled before consuming.

These flavorful bite-sized fruits are native to South America and have a multitude of names such as Cape Gooseberries, Husk Tomatoes, Ground Cherries, Inca Berries, Aztec Berries, Peruvian Cherries and Poha.

Enjoy Goldenberries just like blueberries or strawberries. Pop them into your mouth as a quick snack or add them to your morning breakfast routine. They taste delicious on pancakes, waffles, granola or yogurt. They also make an elegant garnish on cheese plates, chocolate ganache-coated desserts, ice cream or holiday centerpiece dishes like Thanksgiving turkey or Christmas ham.

Alternatively, Goldenberries strike a nice balance between sweet and tart when simmered into a sauce, jam, or chutney or when paired with rich flavors like pork belly or creamy ricotta cheese.

Melissa’s Goldenberries are hand selected for excellent quality. Store in the refrigerator for up to 5 to 7 days.

  • Harry's Berries Strawberries

    Harry’s Berries Strawberries

    $30.00

Close your eyes and imagine the smell of a perfect strawberry. It’s light, fresh and…what else? If you’re having a hard time conjuring the deeply floral, jammy, caramel-tinged aroma of fresh strawberries, it’s probably because you, like most consumers, rarely get to experience the wonder of a field-fresh strawberry.

There’s no better farm to source the perfect strawberry from than Harry’s Berries, which was founded in Oxnard, CA in 1967. For the sake of the family, the land, the farmworkers and the fruit, Harry’s Berries is organic, so there are no chemical pesticides here. Instead, they interplant the fields with cheerful flowers that ward off berry-loving pests and invite beneficial pollinators. Additionally, the berries don’t come off the vine until the very peak of perfection, so you can expect deep red berries full of flavor every single time.

Two specialty strawberry varieties, Gaviota and Seascape, are the main crops. The vibrant red color and the stop-you-in-your-tracks scent of summer will demand your attention, and you’ll never, ever forget your luscious, juicy first bite. Plump, sugar-sweet Gaviotas beg you to eat each and every one straight out of the basket, and the more nuanced Seascapes have a hint of acidity that makes for incredible pies, shortcakes and jams.

    How to store:

Once you get your berries home, transfer them to an airtight container and layer (on top, in between, and on the bottom) with dry paper towels. Be sure not to wash your berries until you’re just about to eat them. According to Harry’s Berries, the fruit can last up to two weeks with this method.
